Went with a theme of all white lights, around doors, mantle, tree etc. I tried to use only clear or pale ornaments too. This year the tree is on the carpet so I felt safer to use the glass ones than in years past. Everything had been fine till we aquired the "cats". Now Sam was older when we got him and more settled, still he climbed the first real tree we had in years. Nowadays that's all beneath him. Then Tilly came in as a kitten. I can't remember her ever climbing the tree, though she might have at night. However, Luci? Whole nother story. Every year from the box coming out to it getting put away she is after the tree. Climbs in the box as we assemble the tree, in the lights, and ornaments...

Hmmm thought I could access the old Christmas pics but I can't. Oh well, take my word for it, she's in everything decorating based. This year has been no exception. She started getting in the tree as soon as the base layer of branches was in. Green tree has white fur all over it. However, I've been doing better with it and she's been staying out more. Garland is still in the same place as I put it. Yay! This morning there were a couple ornaments down but not too bad. Wonder who will win this year, cat or tree?
Merry Christmas to all!judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18284441219557833519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1021930205274476755.post-8619188647581028162012-12-02T12:34:00.002-08:002012-12-12T10:56:27.523-08:00Dear friends, I stink at this! I never feel like I have anything interesting to say, and if I say anything it's on facebook. Seems like more people like FB than blogs anymore. I can't blame them. It's easier to keep up a conversation with all your friends than rattle on a blog and carry on a one way conversation. Of course if you're a journaler then this is a great format. In any case I seem to be using it to review books I've read, the latest being All Things New by Lynn Austin. It was a freebie from Bethany house publishers to review online so here goes:

This is a stand alone story (as far as I know it's going to be) about the end of the civil war and how it affected a family and their slaves in the south. The characters were very real and I appreciated that although there was a love interest, it wasn't a sappy love story. It stayed interesting till 3/4 of the way through when it became intense. Maybe it was because I had invested in the characters but it was so good I stayed up till 12:15am to finish it last night.

What I found very interesting was something I hadn't thought of. Though the slaves were set free, the weren't really free from their masters and families. Legally yes, but realistically their day to say routines were so entwined that there was no difference. The real change took years I'm sure to seperate themselves from the plantations families. I had never thought of that.

So, I gave the book a 5 star rating, another thumbs up to Lynn Austin, whom I love all her work.

Have a great week blog, till I have another book to review. :)judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18284441219557833519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1021930205274476755.post-80285637412883219262012-10-26T17:33:00.003-07:002012-10-26T18:03:42.486-07:00How long has it been?Wow, has it really been almost 2 yrs? I like the idea of blogging and love reading them but I guess I don't feel I have much to say about my life. Even on facebook I don't post much. Who cares if I'm drinking coffe at starbucks? (I'm not by the way- don't drink coffee and wouldn't pay for that if I did).

So, now what's interesting? Well, the real reason I'm back here (and might keep it up this time) is that the lovely people at Bethany House have given me a few books to read/ review. I'm to review on Amazon but also to my blog. So, to the 2 people out there who might read this... here goes.

The first book was called Over the Edge by Mary Connelly and was book 3 in a series of westerns. Normally I don't like reading the middle of a series first but hey, it was free. I'm a stickler for reading books in order. So, I started it and it seemed a bit hokey to me, a bit too Annie Oakley but I kept at it. Somehow by chapter 4 I still wasn't feeling it and felt it deserved a better chance than me. After all I'm not a historical romance kinda gal (what was I thinking anyway) more humor and memoirs. So I passed it for review to wonderful lady in my church who is an avid reader and likes that sort of thing.

She too felt it was a bit slow in the beginning but it all made sense to her (and me) that it was book #3 so they were trying to fill in the background in case you read it as a stand alone. Once she got past the background detail she felt it was exciting and a good read. She thought she would like to read them in order and could get a better feel for it. I will try to get the others in the series and include them all in our church library.

The other book was called "Unstuck" by Arnie Cole and Michael Ross. I admit to having that one a long time before this review. It is an excellent book for those of us (including me) who had a dry time in our spirituality. After all if you're further from God, Who moved? That'd be me. It has real life stories of dry times and what people tried to get "unstuck". Gives good thoughts and tips for reviving your walk with God and even has a website connected to it which gives among other things a quiz to help you find your difficult areas. Then you can get daily emails sent to you with help in those particular areas of struggle. Also little short bible studies that you can expand on if you wish. Altogether a nice book which I will also include in our church library.

Aside from all this reading I've been doing, I've kinda given up the spinning, slowed down the knitting and the past few days focused on getting the smell of a dead mouse outta my closet wall. Happy days are here again! Hope to be back soon!judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18284441219557833519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1021930205274476755.post-53631836283474312672010-11-25T12:27:00.000-08:002010-11-25T13:02:04.759-08:00Happy Turkey day!

Happy Thanksgiving wherever you are. No matter what country we should spend time being thankful for whatever we have. It can always be worse and there are always many people in this world who are worse off than you. I am so grateful for a loving Saviour, a loving family (even the 14 yr old who refuses to say that), a warm home, my pets, my job and my husbands job, and my church family. Even though any of these things can be taken away at a moments notice, (except for God), I still choose to be thankful for what I have now, even in the less than perfect times.

Today we had snow. I am not a fan, but am thankful for the photo op., and the fact we have a fireplace to keep us warm. Now it's raining and may come in the front door as usual, but hey, we HAVE a front door! Here's some pics...

This is our backyard pond and bird feeder. Doesn't snow look so pretty at the beginning? When it's white and fluffy and clean? This is also where Mr Squirrel comes and actually opens the snap lid plastic tub that we store the food in. Mr Chipmunk climbs the pole and gets inside the feeder (sometimes getting stuck) and makes a mess. I don't think the birds appreciate it.

On the knitting front, the hat and headband are done, one sleeve from the forever sweater is done, and the little felted tote bag is knitted. Maybe tomorrow I'll felt it. I am also working on a felted purse for a friends birthday. I'd "like" to finish up all my projects by the new year but.... this is what I end up doing. They have the right idea.

Tilly is the black and white on the left, sam is the orange tiger in the middle and our newest little gal is Luci, the white and grey on the right. It shouldn't be this hard. It shouldn't take 15 starts to get going on either of these items yet it did. Hat too big, hat too small come on people! Finally get the gauge right, hat done and then the same darn thing happens with the headband. Changed the needles 5 times to find out the headband is just plain too wide, so I drop some stitches to accomadate and then it's too narrow, change needle size up, and then add some stitches back. Argh! But now it's setttled in and coming along so I am reasonably happy. Also happy that I'm on the sleeves of my sweater. The other big thing I found out on Friday is I have a torn disk in my back. Yes! How exciting! 3 visits with the chiropractor in a week! Seriously, I have no idea how it happened, just one night it was there. Pain all the way down to my foot from my "behind" and sometimes a numbness. He's helped it some, but it needs to be iced alot. So of course now I want to do all the things around the yard which require lifting. Must Learn Patience.

A few random thoughts on blessings.

1. We have more than we realize. Even though there is pain and sickness we have Insurance.

2. Jerry has a good job so we can pay the insurance co pay.

3. Though we complain about the cost, we can pay the utilities.

4. There are 3 warm furry bodies in our bed at night to cuddle with.

5. I am no longer considered allergic to animals.

6. Our children and grandchildren are happy and healthy.

7. A fantastic church family to worship and play with.

8. Super great friends both near and far.

9. Salvation! Should be #1 Praise God for loving me with all my failures and insecurities.

The list could go on and on but it's time to ice my back again. Just want to introduce our newest little lady. All the way from Colorado! Here are the two babies, who we lovingly call our fake grandchildren. This is Charlotte on left. She only stopped smiling when she took time to scream because something was not to her liking.

Then we have Maddy who was very talkative

about our fish. And ate lots of pasta. And talked

some more. According to her we have "balloon fish" and "those are quite some bubbles" (little glass balls in the bottom to look like bubbles). I swear this child talks like an adult. It's quite amazing. we really have to figure some way to go visit Boulder this summer. Aren't they beautiful?

So then they left and Hannah came home from school and a state police car arrived. Nothing weird, sometimes they sit next to our house and slow the speeders down. However, after about an hour Hannah and I hear a helicopter hovering. I finally got up to look and it seems to be landing behind our house just out of sight. Even the cop got out of his car and ran toward where it landed. All Very Interesting in the light of day. Now it's Dark, and he is still here and the helicopter keeps coming back and hovering from time to time. Now it is Not Interesting anymore but a bit Unnerving. This was my view from my living room window.

Almost time to go get Hannah from drama club at school. Let it go..

So, now we have the rain. First the drought, which though bad, doesn't usually cause me any extra work. The rain however.. yes, front door needs fixing so water leaks under it. Another reason besides cost that I don't have carpet in the living room. Right now it has a beautiful array of towels festooning the edges. Some are wet, some not. The basement however.. oh shall we speak of the basement? I did not want to go down to the soggy bottom of my house and make squisshy noises walking across the carpet. Yet I did. When you're the only adult in the house you have to put on the big girl pants and do what you don't like. I am and I did.

Understand our basment has flooded ever since we decided to put furniture down there and an access from the inside. Used to be worse as the carpet was directly on the concrete. Good thing I vetoed the padding idea. After about the 5th flood we bit the bullet and invested in these wood tiles that have plastic feet under them. The plastic feet keep the carpet up off the concrete about a half inch so you can be flooded without wet. Normally. Todays consistantly heavy rain has caused the edges of the carpet to get wet and the water to rise over the lip to the unfinished side of the basement. Now comes the shop vac. Yes, sucking water into the shop vac and out to the running path behind my house is gads of fun. Every hour or so I go down and try to get the water sucked out from under the wood tiles at my only access point, the doorway. I can only hope my house has some slope to that edge.

Oddly this is a better week even with this, than the last 2 weeks. A few weeks ago my daughter in law Sara's outside feral colony started dwindling. Some dissapeared, some were hit by cars and one lone little guy, Lambert, was left. We'd been doing the trap nueter release program to lower the numbers and it was working well. Well, poor Lambert hasn't looked well for the past few months, but the beginning of Sept. it was worse. He was skin and bones and had such a snotty stuffed nose that even grass got caught in it. Finally I couldn't take it anymore and took him to the TNR vet to see what they could do. He needed force feeding and antibiotics but we thought we could make him better. Not so much. After about a week he went further downhill and I took him to the regular vet. Ka ching!

Almost dead, with a temp of 91, they whisked him away and did bloodwork. WBC of 56K, but they thought with force feeding, IV antibiotics, heating tent and all he'd be better. So he spent the weekend at the vets. Their estimate was 360.00. Pricey but okay. By Monday afternoon the bill was over 1,200.00 and my balance was 962.00. Cat was no better except a lower WBC of 24K. among much tears I made the awful decision to have him put to sleep. It's like gambling. How many more $$ can I throw at this to make it better? Sometimes you have to cut your losses but still it feels awful.

That was a Monday. By Wed. I was at my DIL's house with her 11 yr old cat Max gasping for breath. He had asthma for several years, and beat kidney blockages a few times. This time wasn't to be. I ended up at another vet having him put down for her. More tears. The Friday was the highlight with a root canal done on one of my front uppers. So, you see the flood isn't the worst of my life right now though it surely stinks.

Oh yes, add to that last weekend in the ER with my son who had a kidney stone. Thank God I haven't had one of those yet. Good news, while waiting with him I finished the sleeve of a sweater I was working on. Here's a picture to cheer us all up.

Miss innocent Tilly, just posing? Someday she'll settle. Her friend Sam loves her and she loves him so it's all worthwhile. Speaking of Sam, here he's relaxing as usual.

Time to go back to the basement! Not that anyone reads blogs anymore with facebook and twitter. I like a nice long blog, not a sentence "I'm drinking coffee on the patio". I get frustrated when people don't update enough... NEB? And then here I am the worst of them all! So much has happened over the past 2 years, births, deaths, cats! Yes! I found out last year I am no longer allergic so promptly went and got one. A rescue 4 yr old from the shelter. His name is Samuel and I love him down to his tootsie toes. Lets see if I remember how to add a pic. Well, there he is. Not where I wanted the pic but okay....

After I got him in Sept. My son Paul found kittens in his backyard. As a Christmas gift he caught (actually his wife caught, he transported) one that I particuarly liked. The other one was snatched away by people in the night. This is Matilda or Tilly. She will be a year very soon as far as we can tell. Still very skittish and hides in the basement when strangers are here. Yes, she isn't where I want her to be either. Sam is on the left, the orange tiger and Tilly is the beautiful black and white girl.

Oh well, I moved them a bit. Tilly is sitting on our kitchen "tiled" floor. Yes! Tile! which means the kitchen is finished! Alot of the house is finished except there are no pics. Why you ask? Because we were burgeld burgled? whatever. Robbed means we were at home which we were not. Thankfully. Also thankfully the burglers closed the door after them. No one was hurt and no animals escaped. Bad news is between depreciation and deductibles we only got one computer and a lesser tv. Jerry fixed the screen they cut himself. Also thankfully a good friend (Thanks Elaine!) let me have her netbook computer. I love this thing!!!! Too cute! So, basically all is well.

We are going on vacation this weekend too! Yipee! Sand Dune motel in wildwood Crest NJ. Hmmm I wonder if I can get an image from the internet.... let's try shall we? I'm feeling adventurous. Ok, that doesn't work at all. Probably illegal or immoral anyway. Well, now that my friends Nate and Neb have left town I guess I have to be more consistant. I can't promise but I'll try.

Since I posted last our addition hasn't moved much. Not much you can do without money. Hah! But I have been doing grunt work around the yard which doesn't cost much.
I worked on the pond some more, this is a photo of it at the beginning.

I wanted to post pics that are on my camera of "what we did on Jerrys vacation" but as usual I can't find the camera cord to download them. I will try to do that later.

In fiberland I've been working on the Orkney Pi shawl knit along, and a friends very belated Christmas/birthday gift of pillows. In between I tried to get going on some socks but have had a hard time of it. I start and rip, start another and rip. Just can't get solidly into one.

Mostly I've been on a reading jag. Most recently I read "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch which was excellent! Right now I'm finishing The Shack by William P. Young, a vrey interesting look at our perceptions of God and our universe. How we see good vs. evil, what our purpose is, how to have a better relationship with God. I do think he's gone a bit far on the relationship and not having anything under obiedience which is biblical also. Some Deep Thoughts in there. I'm about to dive into Ted Dekkers Shadowland. I've been a fan of his a few months now and this is the next one I have in the line.

Health has been good. I still go for the checkups every couple months with the oncologist and once a month get an IV infusion of a calcium drug to help with the osteoporosis but that's about it. Then I had a root canal done this afternoon. Not bad. He's new to me and very high tech. Has a tv on the ceiling (not that I could hear it over the drill) and neato gadgets.

Boy it has been awhile cause now I can't figure out how to move the pics around. They all look to me as writing until I preview and then they come up. Before they appeared as pictures and I could mouse over them and move them. Now? Not so much. You'll have to make do with words I guess....

If I can figure the picture thing I'll post them but don't hold your breath! So this fascinating post must come to a close so I can finish some stuff and get to bed.judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18284441219557833519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1021930205274476755.post-15370605656118470952007-10-17T12:44:00.000-07:002007-10-17T13:07:33.874-07:00It's not workingOKay, my geeky computer friends (Nate). What am I doing wrong to not have that breast cancer button on the sidebar like everyone else? If I'm going to do a blog I at least want it to have some redeeming value.

In the meantime till I get an answer I will tell you of my exciting life. Monday there was a Big fire near my dads house. My son Paul and I were working on renovating the house and were about ready to leave when I smelled smoke. Being the nervous type I mentioned this to him. He found the source alright, but it was in a direct line to my house. As I was panicking and trying to dial home he found out via his Official Ambulance Walkie Talkie Radio that it was a commercial structure fire.

Well, off we went! Silly me thinking we're just going to drive to where it is and be looky loos. Nope, we use lights and siren to carreen (sp?})around cars and through lights to get to said fire. I was alternately scared we were going to roll over and die, embarrassed about making a spectacle of myself, and feeling that we were going to get arrested for doing such things. Mostly scared of dying.

We get to the fire which thankfully was an abandoned factory and I find, indeed the one whose diapers I changed is allowed to drive like that. Hmmm... It went downhill from there. The excitement of the fire gave way to standing around with the EMS crew (in the official neon orange vest)waiting for something to happen. After about an hour of this we did get a few firemen to give water and towels to, and check their blood pressure. Of course my knitting was back at the house, the one I might add that we ran from leaving doors open, lights on, radios playing, and my car with windows down and my purse sitting on the front seat. So, my son who was now in Official Command Mode and uniform gives me his truck keys to go back and get my car and lock up everything. End of excitement. I might add I had no lunch or dinner or even a drink since breakfast. To all this my son says, "don't say I never take you anywhere".

I hear yesterday there was another bigger fire in the apartment building my daughter used to live in. That was worse as there were people, and some pets were killed. I didn't attend that one.

So, boring old today I'm trying (quite successfully) to avoid steeking my new sweater. When I get the guts I will take a picture and post it. S, I bid all 2 of you adieu and hope to have the button moved soon.

Judyjudyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18284441219557833519noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1021930205274476755.post-54679120935981626402007-10-17T12:34:00.000-07:002007-10-17T12:38:25.759-07:00It's a link! Or not. I'd like it to sit next to the top of all my posts but I am computer illiterate. These things always sound so easy when someone describes them. I love to put blame on others, even if the others are inanimate objects. Here be a picture of my almost finished Rogue sweater. This is the hood.

See the fancy cables? Yes, they are laying exactly as I wanted. They look continuous across the head even though they're not. They are carefully, with a 3 needle bind off grafted together. They are a thing of beauty.

See the dent on the back of the hood? Yes, you're seeing it right even if you're not a knitter. It goes straight across the cables and then dips down about 1.5" very quickly. Then it goes on at a new level for a couple inches. My head is not shaped like this. I'd venture to say no ones head is shaped like this. This is Very Wrong. This requires Hot Chocolate with Raspberry Syrup since I don't drink hard liquor. Though I could very well take it up. Imagine a sweater beating up on an adult human being! It boggles the mind, and yet, that's the situation.

Now, before all my knitterly friends jump in and tell me what I did wrong, I found out. See, one should fully read the directions before jumping willy nilly (I like the sound of that) into the way you think it should be. Now I'm stuck unknitting the stupid seam I put in. You see, the seam line shouldn't be going from front to back in the plain part. At that point (after the cables) the seam should go side to side picking up the edge left over after the cables went together. So now that's where I am and mighty unhappy about it. This sweater should be laying on a towel drying itself in the sun (never mind we had no sun today, only torrential downpours which flooded my basement, I am sooo sorry Adrienne) in preparation to getting its sleeves sewn on. It still needs a hem, and to be steeked and a zipper put in. Non knitters: To steek means to Cut The Knitting That You Spent Hours Of Your Life Knitting Together. Usually this activity is begun with a large drink of wine. One doesn't want to mess with this sort of thing having drunk whisky you see. That would be over the top. However, seeing as above, I do not partake of the Spirits and need now my Hot Chocolate with Raspberry Syrup, I will leave blogland and go forth to imbibe and knit in that order.

Judy (Remember, friends don't let friends knit drunk)judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18284441219557833519noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1021930205274476755.post-20817552114989422762007-10-09T13:20:00.000-07:002007-10-09T13:43:33.676-07:00Happy Birthday to me!

Yes, I know I said I'd be back 6 days ago. I live in a time warp you see.. I decided I would repaint the chair a less interesting shade of purple, so here it is. Very dark grape. But it's really really comfy and will go up to the loft without creating a hernia.

So, yes its my birthday, 54 yrs on this planet and somedays I feel it, others not so much. Today is a good day. I got many shots this morning, one in the behind. Then went to lunch with a very dear friend who I cleaned for ummm about the last 23 or so years. I knew her before I knew my dearest hubby. So, we ate lunch in one of those cutsy old house now a shop and lunch place in a quaint little town. It was fun and we needed to catch up. Next I clean my church while waiting for my dearest daughter to get done with her choir practice. It seems like a good way to spend my time.

In fiberland: I'm making good progress finally on the Rogue sweater. I have no sticktoittiveness if that's a word. Lemme see if I can get a decent picture. Okay, at least it's there. The cables are coming along nicely now that it's almost done! I'm working on the hood now, for those of you who might not know the pattern. Sleeves are done, but need to be blocked before sewing up. After all that I'll steek it and add a zipper. Hopefully the thing will fit half decently.

So, this weekend I'll be with friends at a friends yarn shop in Adamstown Pa. We will be knitting and spinning as a demo to lure new customers in. Might actually sell some handspun but I'm not counting on it. Of course after weeks of beautiful sun, it's supposed to rain.

Well, that's my life at the moment. Pretty dull huh? For a more fun blog and baby pics go to NEB's blog. She's funny and has wonderful baby pics of her daughter Madeline. Did I spell that right? Well, she'll forgive her dottering old friend. Must get to choir practice! Knit on! If this were a real post, you'd get, well, more info and maybe pics! Maybe you will anyway. Lets see. Today I did alot of finishing. I've been on a kick just for today of doing stuff I've been procrastinating about. Taking pictures of the miniature cars to sell on ebay, getting the paint that was too purple reformulated to a more grape color, cleaning bird cages....

First, the chair. I bought it from a restorative hardware shop http://www.blockershardware.com/ for 22.00. Now that might seem alot for a broken down old chair that my dear son said...." if you have a chance to go on antiques roadshow, don't take this chair". He thinks it was a shop project for a middle school kid, that flunked shop. "I" however know its charms. When one is short one has to be careful about their chairs. This one is low and wide and fit's my behind. Here's a before picture..

It is now, purple (not Barney purple, but what's called Raspberry). I might add my dear son again, voiced his opinion. I bought said paint for my front shutters and painted these lovely things. He took one look and said "You're not putting those up. Oh yes, I reply. Oh no, says he, for if you do I will take down my sign in your front yard saying I am building this addition". He's such a bland person. So, I traipse back to Home Depot and throw myself on the mercy of the young man in the paint department. His name coincidentally is Paul, same as my dear son. Long story short, Paul made it more grape like so I think even if he doesn't like it, it will be more acceptable. Chair is not being repainted. I kind of upholstered her today. Tore off all the old fabric and made a template. Bought a very bland pale fabric and made not only the cushion AND the ruffle (MATH was involved), but also made a back cushion. Picture to follow when it gets light out. Let's see... 114" of ruffle fabric, to be shortened to 77" of ruffle leaves how many ruffles at what intervals? How big should they be? How much room in between? I struggled with this for quite awhile till I decided to wing it. I just started making them and seeing how it worked.

Let's see, what else? Trying to finish the Rogue sweater from http://www.girlfromauntie.com/ in time for Rhinebeck sheep and wool fest which is Oct. 20th. Still have to work up the cabled neckline and hood, and then block and assemble. Tomorrow for sure.

Went to a open farm tour Sat. of course to the alpaca farm. Was nice to get to hug a llama and check out the fleeces. Not that great, short and medium fineness and very dusty but hey, I needed a fix ya know? Been working on that and enjoying it.

Hating the socks I've been doing since May. Tofutsies yarn which has so much yarn vomit that even non knitters are noticing. That's bad. Have a sweater in the making which was shamelessly copied from a good friend who is excellent at making things up. I am a by the book pattern person, she wings it. http://www.outofhand.com/ should take you to her blog and maybe the spring she made this sweater. A pictoral of sheep by a fence by a road. Striped on top with angora, yum! Mine will be more greys than browns. Also working on a ball gown shawl (not that I have any gowns or am going to any balls) that's been on the needles for about 5 yrs! That must be some sort of record.

On the animals, all are well except Essie. She passed away one Sunday this summer. I was sad but she did have the best life I could provide. Olivia and Oliver are still well.

They are the origonal snuggle bunnies. Hard to believe when he was a baby she wanted to kill him. Oh, for those who might not know, Olivia is the broken chocolate on the left and Oliver is the black (yeah right Elaine) on the right.

Zoe isn't very photogenic these days. Sorry. We shaved poor Ollie about 2 weeks ago. He was so matted that we had no choice and I couldn't save any of this coat.

Well, for a test this went pretty long. Hopefully I'll be back on a more regular basis? I dunno. I'll try.

Later! Has it been over a year already? I guess so. I've been busy but not posting and I'm sorry for the two of you that actually check here for an update. (G)Okay, for some of you others, a brief synopsis of the past year. It's mostly centered around the discovery of breast cancer and subsequent removal of the breast. Took them long enough, all summer taking it piece by piece then finally in mid Nov. it just became silly and they took it all. I'm really pleased with the result, as it's a very nice job and healed really well. The Lord was very good to me and held me up through it all so it never became discouraging. We are tomorrow checking a bone scan for reasons for my new bone pain. I firmly believe it's a side effect of the estrogen blockers I'm taking but they must rule out bone cancer. A new interesting adventure to pursue. On other things of moderate interest, to keep me occupied during all this medical drama Jerry decided this was a good time to put an addition on our house. We've been meaning to for a couple years but now we are. Our son Paul will be doing the work with us helping as much as possible to keep costs down. Is that possible? I'll take a pic and let you see what it's like now. A small deck outside the dining room and that's it. It will be a 20' by 25' family room with a small loft and deck over the back roof. The idea was to look at the woods and animals, but this summer the owner of the land on the other side of the railroad tracks decided to install an asphalt plant. Ahhhh how nice. Now I see some sort of heavy equipment on one side of the bridge and the other is where they mine? dig up, whatever the rocky stuff they use to make asphalt. Of course the stuff has to go from one end to the other and this small squeaky backhoe type thing goes back and forth in my line of vision. Thanks!See the nice woodseyness behind the house? In the distance is a river which is very pretty to see. Not sure how well I'll be able to see it in summer but sure would be nicer than the asphalt workers. Now to see how to get the text below these pics...Okay, this is pretty ugly. I had this lovely post with poics and links and all and when I went to preview it I found a few spelling errors, so I went back. Uhhh I lost everything but what was above. Now the pics won't come in and I'm discouraged. I will try again for the fiber fiends I mean friends to get the pics up and more yarn stuff. Off to dinner....

judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18284441219557833519noreply@blogger.com0
